Congratulations – WASSEC Mission Patch Design Competition
The Western Australian Space Science Education Centre (WASSEC) focuses on engaging Western Australian students in learning opportunities and concepts linked to the Space Sciences and related industries. Last term, students from our school participated in the WASSEC Mission Patch Design Competition for their Mission to Mars program.
Congratulations to Mari B from Wonil (Room 3) whose design was chosen as a Top 20 finalist from over 2500 entries. Well done, Mari!
Student Update Forms
Ensuring our school has current family contact and student health information is an important part of ensuring our duty of care. It is also an important part of maintaining the positive partnership and relationship between home and school (Strategic Pathway 3).
Last week, students brought home Student Update Forms. Thank you to those families who have already returned these forms.
If you have not yet done so, we ask parents/carers to review the information on the form, update (if required) and return to school tomorrow - Friday 9 May.
Forms can be returned to the classroom teacher or to the Administration Office.
Applications for Enrolling Students for 2026
If your child is starting Kindergarten, Pre-primary, or Secondary School, or if they’re changing schools, make sure you submit your application for enrolment by Friday 25 July 2025. Please remember that school holidays are from Saturday 5 July to Monday 21 July. If possible, apply for a place at school by the end of term.
Please be aware of the selection criteria;
In all local-intake schools, if the number of applications is greater than the number of places available enrolment is prioritised as follows:
- Children living in the intake area of the local-intake school, who will have a sibling enrolled at the school, and who live nearest the school.
- Children living in the intake area of the local-intake school, who will not have a sibling enrolled at the school, and who live nearest the school.
- Children not living in the intake area of the local-intake school, who will have a sibling enrolled at the school, and who live nearest the school.
- Children not living within the intake area of the local-intake school, who will not have a sibling enrolled at the school, and who live nearest the school.
Applicants on particular visas may not be prioritised until all other applicants have been placed. Please contact the school if you have any queries regarding visa numbers.

Comovers Dads Get Together
When: Wednesday 21st May at 6pm
Where : Como Primary School Library
What: Come and be part of the Como Primary School Fathering Group, the Comovers, for our first event of the year. Our special guest is Wayne Hounsom (Community Dads Group Manager for The Fathering Project WA) and he will be helping us understand the emotions of our children, and maybe a better understanding of our own.

ELECTION BBQ SUCCESS
A huge thanks to all school parents that helped with the running of the Election Day BBQ and Bake Sale on Saturday morning. The vibe was great and we completely sold out of sausages, muffins and bacon by lunchtime.

We had a great start to the term last week, busy for a first week back, so thank you for all your support!
We are very proud of the fact that we have many food options on our menu that is full of hidden vegetables, that we prepare the bulk of our menu items from scratch and that we offer a wide variety of foods which enables the parents to be in the driver's seat and choose what they allow their children to eat. Some menu items might need a rethink from our side to ensure that it is the best option both health wise, budget wise and time wise for us, but nothing will change right away.
Remember if you want to order birthday cupcakes from the canteen, we need at least a week’s notice. Send us an e-mail to como.cookout@gmail.com to lock your order in the diary. Cupcakes are $2 each, choose between chocolate and vanilla.
Volunteer Roster
The volunteer roster for Term 2 is now live. Please look at your calendars and see whether there is a day or two that you can help us out. We rely heavily on volunteer support; it helps us to keep our prices low and we all know how important that is. It’s also a great way to meet some new people and integrate yourself into the school community and the kids love seeing mum or dad at the service window. For every shift you do you will also receive a free lunch order for your child, so one less lunchbox to worry about!

Sports X – Term 2, 2025
Perth Goju Karate teaches karate classes at Como Primary School, in the school hall.
A special offer for Como students - 4 WEEKS FREE beginners karate lessons!
Classes are held after school on Friday’s and are a great way for children of all ages to learn self-defense in a fun and safe environment.
We also teach classes for teens and adults and they are fantastic for fitness, wellbeing and of course, self-defense.
Students who attend the schools on-site After Care are collected and taken to the class in the hall and returned to After Care when their class is finished.
Classes continue throughout the school term and the school holidays.
Karate has many benefits which include confidence, respect, discipline, fun and fitness.
