Tournament of Minds (TOM)

On Tuesday, 29th July, our Senior LEAP students had the opportunity to participate in a full-day workshop to commence their 6-week challenge solution in preparation for the WA Regional Tournament. These students showed resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills—all while enjoying the experience with their peers and friends. 

Thank you very much to Mrs Ward, Mr Youd and our parent volunteers for their engagement and helpfulness on the day.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability

Each year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD Guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

• year of schooling.
• category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional.
• level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial, or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

• formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools.
• consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools.
• develop shared practices so they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child, and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information.

Dear Parents,

Your school photo day is coming! Every student will receive a personalised flyer to bring home from Kapture Photography containing your child’s unique codes for ordering school photos online.

The unique codes contained on the flyer will be issued only once.

Order EARLY for sibling photography

Sibling photos can ONLY be ordered online. Once you receive the personalised flyers for your children, it is imperative that you order your sibling photo early to avoid missing out! There is a physical limit in the school schedule to how many sibling photos can be taken. Once the maximum capacity of sibling orders has been reached, no more sibling orders can be placed.

If maximum capacity is not reached, sibling orders close 12pm midday sharp, one business day prior to the first photo day.  

The school or the photographers cannot accept late orders for sibling photography. Please do not ask as your request simply cannot be accommodated.

Order EARLY for discount photo day prices

Order your photos up to 10 calendar days after photo day to receive discount photo day prices. Late orders are handled separately to the school delivery and incur a $30 custom service charge.

Other information

Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package. Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please check the FAQ’s on the Kapture website.

We request that students who are displaying signs of respiratory and / or gastrointestinal illnesses do not attend school specifically to be included in their class photo. Having students with communicable illnesses attend the photography venues puts other students, school staff and Kapture staff at risk – especially those that are already immunocompromised. Students who are unable to attend school photo day can book a studio appointment at our Malaga office to be photographed during school holidays. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Your school will notify you in a few weeks when team and special group photos are available to view and purchase on the Kapture website. Please note; class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.

All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.

House Cross-Country Carnival 2025

Last Friday the 1^st of August saw students from Years 3-6 take to the track for the 2025 House Cross Country Carnival. It was House against House in a thrilling day of long-distance running. Students from Years 3 & 4 competed in the 1.2 km (3.5 laps) race, while Year 5-6 competed in the 1.6 km (4.5 laps) event.

Throughout Term 2, students had shown fantastic commitment, training hard during PE lessons and lunchtime sessions to prepare for this big day. Some classes and individual students had been training up to 5-7 times a week in preparation. Their efforts, determination, and teamwork have set the stage for a fun and memorable event.

Cross Country Highlights – A Day of Champions!

What a fantastic start to the day with our Year 6 students setting the tone! Congratulations to Mubashir A and Louis PC who claimed Runner-Up and Overall Champion respectively. A special mention to our Year 6 girls who showed great spirit, despite reduced numbers following the unfortunate withdrawal of last year’s champion Heidi G—we wish her a speedy return!

One of the standout performances of the day came from Joanie S, who will represent WA at the National Cross Country Championships later this year. She set a blistering pace that left the rest of the field trailing. Not far behind was the ever-consistent Neve V, who pushed hard to claim second place in a competitive race.

In the Year 5 boys' event, Lachie B dominated from the outset, taking home the Overall Champion title with a commanding win. The battle for second was one for the photo albums—a true Olympic-style finish between Cameron D and Lachy M, with Lachy just edging ahead by a hair’s breadth.

On the girls’ side, track rivals and long-time friends Raine F and Matilda B put on a show to remember, with Raine taking the honours in a tight finish.

The Year 4 boys' race saw Zachary WM set a pace few could match. Benjamin P chased valiantly but had to settle for the runner-up spot after a strong effort. Meanwhile, the Year 4 girls—our most consistent training group—boasted a fiercely competitive field. Elke G and Lara W proved to be a few steps ahead of the pack, running with speed and determination.

Speedsters Adam TS and Koby S lit up the track for the Year 3 boys, while in the girls’ event, Beatrice B followed in her sister Matilda's footsteps by claiming the Overall Champion title. Vian D showed grit and fight to earn the Runner-Up position in a well-contested race.

A huge congratulations to Forrest, who claimed the top spot at this year’s carnival with a strong and consistent performance across the board! Canning were hot on their heels, securing second place in a tight finish. Stirling and Challenger put in fantastic efforts of their own, rounding out the leaderboard with determination and house pride.

Well done to all our competitors for their grit, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm throughout the day. A big thank you to our dedicated staff who went the extra mile, running additional training sessions and cheering from the sidelines. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to the parents and families who came along to support – your presence made this special day even more memorable!

Perth Goju Karate – Term 3, 2025

Perth Goju Karate teaches karate classes at Como Primary School, in the school hall.
