Celebrating Learning
Reconciliation Week - Visual Art with Mrs Lindsay
Over the last few weeks, Year 2 and 3 students viewed and explored the artwork, Bridging Now to Next by Bree Buttenshaw for National Reconciliation Week 2025. Students learnt that the leaves symbolise resilience and adaptability of Australia's native flora. The leaf motif embodies the theme of growth and renewal, emphasising the importance of looking towards the future while acknowledging the past.
Room 6 students were inspired by Bree's artwork and created a class collaborative artwork for Reconciliation Week. Each student designed and painted a gum leaf. The other Year 2 and 3 students painted a Banksia using 'wet on wet' watercolour technique and then added imaginative details with Posca pens. A selection of these artworks are currently on display in the glass cabinet near the hall and in our library.
