Celebrating Learning

Year 5 Election Day

Year 5 students recently brought the democratic process to life through a hands-on mock election. Working in small political parties, they developed campaign platforms, created persuasive materials, and produced their own election videos. With voters drawn from multiple year levels, students had to adapt their strategies to appeal to a broad audience—showcasing creativity, critical thinking and teamwork.

The excitement culminated on Tuesday with a whole-school election day using a preferential voting system. Students demonstrated a strong understanding of democratic principles and a willingness to go the extra mile. It was a fantastic display of leadership and engagement from our Year 5 students in Biara (Room 13) and Pondil (Room 14).

District Speak With Confidence Competition

Yesterday, Harry P and Bridget M each represented our school at the morning elimination finals of the South Perth Speak with Confidence competition. Both students represented our school extremely well, delivering speeches of a high quality that captivated their audience. Almost all government and private schools within the City of South Perth catchment were represented.

Harry was selected to compete in the evening final with his speech, The Power of No! Against strong competition, Harry was judged to be the overall winner. Congratulations Harry, an outstanding and well-deserved result.
