Celebrating Learning

Ensuring student learning is visibly celebrated across our school is a key commitment of ensuring an Inclusive & Engaging Learning Environment (Strategic Pathway 2).

Our Administration Office displays will be recommencing in the coming weeks, so keep your eye out to share in some of the wonderful learning taking place in our classrooms.

We will also continue to celebrate learning each week through our newsletter.

This week, we join Cara (Room 17) as they climb into Jack and the Beanstalk as part of their procedure writing unit. They have been learning how following clear instructions is crucial – otherwise Mrs Harvey might accidentally spread honey with her fingers again (yuck!). They have also started observing their “magic beans” and will be tracking their growth throughout the term as part of their Biological Sciences learning. The dramatic play area has become a cloud-filled adventure as they continue to explore and play.

Building Staff Capacity

Instructional coaching is a major strategy to build staff capacity at our school. It is a collaborative process where a trained coach partners with a teacher to identify an area of their instructional practice to strengthen and refine, developing more effective teaching practices and aiming to enhance student learning outcomes.

Our school has been an active leader in this space within our local Curtin Education Community network, and last week, one of instructional coaches – Mrs Louisa Jones – was invited to be a co-presenter at the International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement conference in Melbourne, highlighting and celebrating the implementation of instructional coaching models within our school and within our network.

Congratulations to Mrs Jones on presenting at the conference. What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the commitment of our teachers to building their capacity to support High Quality Teaching & Learning (Strategic Pathway 1).
