Interschool Cricket - 7th March
Last Friday, 7th March, Como Primary School competed in the Interschool Cricket Carnival at Ernest Johnson Oval, fielding Mixed, Girls, and Boys teams. It was a fantastic day of cricket, with the Girls’ and Boys’ teams each securing two wins, while the Mixed team battled hard for one victory.
There were plenty of standout moments throughout the day. Natalie H delivered a brilliant bowling performance, taking back-to-back wickets for the Girls’ team. Amelia V was everywhere in the field, diving in the field to save crucial boundaries. Ganak G showed sharp reflexes, taking two great catches that turned the momentum in his team’s favour. Captain of the Boys’ team, Harry P, put on a power-hitting display, smashing huge 6s and 4s. Lachy M kept the pressure on with some outstanding bowling spells, while Kai T was a force for the Mixed team, claiming four wickets. Elke G kept spirits high, bringing non-stop energy and enthusiasm to every match.
There was only a 9-run difference in total runs for the carnival between first, second and third placed schools. Even though the teams didn't get ultimately what they wanted, they showed a huge amount of team spirit, connectivity, and once again fulfilled our school's motto "Only Our Best'. A huge thank you to Mr Pascoe for helping to coach this term, and to Mrs Ashenden for coaching the Mixed team. It has been amazing to see so many parents attending carnivals so far and supporting our students.
Interschool Swimming Carnival
The Como PS House Swimming carnival in Week 4 showcased many great individual performances. This was a chance for students to qualify for the Interschool Swimming Carnival held at HBF Stadium on the 8th of April, Tuesday Week 10.
The events for the Carnival are 50 metres Freestyle A, B, C, D division, Breaststroke and Backstroke A, B division, Open Medley Relay and Free Style Relay. Times and places taken from the House Carnival have been collated to form the Interschool Swimming Squad, which will be released by Friday 14th of March. The complete squad will be posted on the Sports board outside classrooms 3 and 4, and parents will be provided with information via email as soon as possible.
It has been a fast start to 2025, and we are looking forward to many more sporting events this year!
