Communication with the School Community – Policy Update
The relationship between home and school plays an important role in a child’s education. This importance is highlighted within our Strategic Plan 2024 -2026 – Pathway 3: Positive Partnerships & Relationships.
Our school’s Communication with the School Community policy has been reviewed, updated and is being actioned in 2025. The protocols in this policy seek to ensure all community members continue to work together in a positive and respectful manner to ensure the growth and learning of all students.
The updated policy is available through our school website - www.comoprimaryschool.wa.edu.au/our-school/school-policies/
School Upgrades
Over the summer holiday period our school has undertaken facilities upgrade projects as part of ensuring an Inclusive & Engaging Learning Environment (Strategic Pathway 2).
- Installation of an additional classroom
- Creation of a dedicated Manager Corporate Services office
- Installation of a covered walkway connecting the breezeway to the library
- Installation of a naturescape mural
- Classroom painting and installation of new door in Room 13 (Biana)
A special thank you to the P&C for their donation of $9 600 for the installation of the new covered walkway, and to the 2024 Student Prefects and artist Brenton See for our new mural.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up – Kiss and Drive
Schools can be hectic places during drop-off and pick-up times. It is at these times we require support from our school community to ensure student safety.
Our school website has information for parents on keeping our Kiss and Drive area safe and running smoothly - https://www.comoprimaryschool.wa.edu.au/parent-information/kiss-and-drive/
We continue to seek support from families in following these directions:
- Please do not park or leave your vehicle in the Kiss and Drive area.
- Please do not park in the marked “No Standing” zones.
- Children should exit and enter the vehicle from the footpath side only.
- Be patient, and move forward into the turning point. Avoid overtaking a vehicle in front wherever possible.
- Please do not cross the road within the Kiss and Drive area. Walk around the turning point using the footpath.
- Follow the Traffic Flow Plan.
Please remember that the Kiss and Drive zone in Coode Street is not a parking zone at the start and end of the school day. Parents are encouraged to use the marked bays on Alston Avenue, or to use the carpark behind the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Parents/Carers should NOT:
- Use the staff carpark
- Park in bike lanes
- Park on the private property of our neighbours.
With the help of all in our school community, we can ensure our students are safe as they come to and from school.
LEAP (Learning Activities Enrichment Program)
The Learning Activities Enrichment Program (LEAP) aims to provide additional enrichment opportunities for identified students at our school. Students engage in project-based learning programs designed to strengthen higher order thinking skills, and are encouraged to embrace academic challenges in collaboration with peers who share similar skills.
The LEAP identification process for all students is conducted each year, and participation previously does not guarantee selection for the new year.
The 2025 program will commence in Week 4. Parents of identified students will be notified by email.
